From the original watercolour on 600 x 450mm paper painting 'Grebe and Wetland Ecosystem' 2015 by Anna Priluka.

-The Australasian Crested Grebe/Pūteketeke (Podiceps cristatus) is a freshwater diving bird found on lakes throughout New Zealand's South Island. The population is slowly recovering after reaching a low of 200 individuals in the 1980's and is now thought to near to 1000 birds. Breeding pairs create floating platforms of lakeside plants to nest on and engage in highly ritualised mating displays. Around Lake Wanaka, as with many lakes around New Zealand, the clearance of lakeside wetland vegetation has made it difficult for grebes to find safe nesting places.
A project by local conservationist John Darby is helping fix this problem with the creation of artificial nesting platforms – these are anchored near the marina and are regularly used by the grebes to rear their young. The bird in this watercolour is based on one of John's Wanaka grebe photos. It is surrounded by an abundance of native lakeshore species including raupō/bullrush (Typha orientalis) and bachelor's button (Cotula coronopifolia)-

Open edition.
All prints have excellent archival properties and are printed on 300gsm, 100% post consumer waste recycled stock. Please be aware that because the prints are made on 100% recycled post consumer waste stock, very tiny flecks may be present on some of the paper. I enjoy the natural look this gives and feel it is much preferable to printing on paper made from old-growth forest pulp!
Each is individually signed and monogrammed and comes with a thick board backing, information blurb on rear and enclosed in a 'cellophane' bag for protection. Shipped flat in recycled cardboard packaging.

Thanks :)
